“Soul Sessions Oslo is an association that works to promote hip-hop culture in Norway in terms of abstinent dance events. We want to inspire Norwegian dancers, DJs and other artists in street genre by acting as a platform for self-training and development as well as to invite some of the best in their fields from abroad,” Soul Session Oslo Facebook Group mission statement.
Our trip to Norway and Sweden gave us the opportunity to cypher, battle, and film the recent Soul Sessions House one on one battle earlier this month. Getting down with some Oslo’s freshest dancers and others who came from France, Latvia, Sweden, UK, and Netherlands, we took in observing and cyphering with some real underground talent.
Special guest Kapelason (Wanted Posse; Serial Stepperz) made it up from Holland teaching a workshop before judging the battle later that night. All in all Soul Sessions in Oslo shares true hip-hop culture through a number of various events inspiring dancers around Norway and surrounding countries.
