UK Bboy Championships celebrated their 19th anniversary in Birmingham, United Kingdom a few weekends back with some of the freshest head to head battles. Bringing out pioneers such as Crazy Legs, Storm, Buddha Stretch, Kapela, and other seasoned judges, UK Bboy Championships continues to honor pioneers of the past while evolving the future dancers who come out to celebrate culture, dance, music, and having fun. UK Bboy Champs was organized in 1996 and includes a week of events with battles, workshops, and parties all celebrating Hip Hop culture and lifestyle! The battles include Breaking Crew, Popping, Hip Hop Freestyle, Solo Bboy, Locking, and Waacking.

CREW BATTLE:

THE RUGGEDS (NETHERLANDS) have been worldwide this year representing their homeland of Holland which included a final matchup with ARCOPOM/ELECTRODUENDES (SPAIN) at the 19th annual event in the UK. Showing their versatility with style, power, routines, and the true spirit of breaking, THE RUGGEDS danced their way to a victory at UK Bboy Championships.

House Battle:

Continuing it’s dominance with talented dancers, the house battle finals brought Wes (Holland) versus Mogwai (France) with a groovy, energetic matchup. Mogwai would end up with the 2014 UK Bboy Championship House title. 

Solo Battle:

In the solo bboy battle the winner will go on to Undisputed, a new solo bboy competition with qualifiers from a number of well-known breaking events, Finals in December. The solo battle Lilou (France) went up against Spin (UK) representing in his backyard of Britain! Spin showed a lot of finesse and power through out the battle but it wasn’t enough to match Lilou’s energetic power and style. Lilou would take the win 3-0 

Popping Battle:

The semi finals for the Popping category have been getting more play than the actual finals due to a heavyweight battle between Salah and Greenteck. Salah and Greenteck were chattering back and forth before and during the battle which included Salah telling Greenteck to step back while he was getting down. Unfortunately, Salah spent too much time talking and not enough time battling, which would give Greenteck the victory. Greenteck”s rounds were solid with grooves and hits with his powerful floor movement.

Greenteck would then battle Gator from France in the finals where Gator would take the victory. Popping category was strong this year with a lot of talent! 

HIP HOP FREESTYLE BATTLE:

The ladies from France were representing for the Hip Hop Freestyle category as Laura (France) from CRIMINALZ Crew battled Sonia Heavyflow (France) in a matchup sure to bring fire. Laura with the intricate, groovy, and energetic personality freestyle beat out Sonia Heavyflow’s throwback hip hop style adding the bounce, fresh foundation, and beat kills!
